Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 11, 2026
1. Who we are and scope
This Privacy Policy describes how Lubdub ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use the Lubdub dating application, our website at our official domain(s), registration or waitlist flows, and related support or community channels we operate (together, the "Service"). It applies whether you access the Service on a mobile device or the web.
For the purposes of applicable privacy laws, we act as the controller (or business, as defined in some jurisdictions) of the personal information described here, unless we state otherwise for a specific processing activity.
Important: Lubdub is an adults-only dating service. You must not use the Service if you are under 18 years of age.
2. Relationship with app-store disclosures
Where we distribute the Service through third-party stores (for example Google Play), we provide a Data safety (or equivalent) declaration that summarises categories of data collected and shared. We aim to keep that declaration accurate and aligned with this Policy. If anything appears inconsistent, please contact us using the details in Section 18 so we can correct it; this Policy governs our practices in detail.
3. Information you provide directly
When you register, join a waitlist, contact support, or otherwise interact with us, you may provide:
- Identity and profile: name, date of birth, gender, photographs, bio or free-text fields, college or institution, year of study, interests, dating or match preferences, and similar profile fields you choose to submit.
- Contact details: phone number, email address, or other channels you give us for account access, verification, or communication.
- Verification and eligibility: identity documents, student or affiliation proof, payment receipts, or other materials we request to verify age, eligibility, or payment for events or registration.
- Payment-related information: when you pay fees, payment data is primarily processed by our payment partners; we may receive limited information (such as transaction status, amount, or masked identifiers), not your full card number, where the partner tokenises or hosts card data.
- Communications you send us: messages, screenshots, or attachments you include when you email support, report abuse, or submit feedback.
Some fields are required to create or maintain an account or attend paid experiences; others are optional. Where a field is optional, we will only process it if you choose to provide it.
4. Information collected automatically
When you use the Service, we and our service providers may automatically collect or generate:
- Device and technical data: device type, operating system version, app version, language settings, screen resolution, carrier or network type where available, and similar diagnostics.
- Identifiers: device or advertising identifiers where permitted by the platform and your settings, push notification tokens, and internal account or session identifiers.
- Usage data: features used, taps or flows, crash logs, performance metrics, and timestamps of activity.
- Network and approximate location: IP address, which may be used to derive approximate region for fraud prevention, abuse detection, analytics, or compliance. Unless we clearly disclose a separate in-app feature (such as location-based matching), we do not intend to collect continuous precise GPS location; if we introduce such a feature, we will update this Policy and in-product notices.
5. Sensitive categories and dating context
Dating apps can involve sensitive information (for example gender, orientation-related preferences, photographs, or health or disability information if you voluntarily disclose it in a profile or message). We process such information only as needed to provide the Service, with your consent where required by law, and in line with this Policy. Please do not post information you are not comfortable having processed for matchmaking, moderation, safety, or support.
Other users may see information you place on your public or semi-public profile or send in chat, according to product design. You control much of what you share; consider carefully before including workplace details, government IDs, or highly sensitive facts in free-text fields.
6. Photos, files, and device permissions
If you upload photos or documents, the app may request access to your camera or media library solely to let you choose files to upload. We use those files for the purposes you expect (profile, verification, support) and for safety and fraud checks as described here. You can revoke permissions in your device settings; some features may then be unavailable.
7. Analytics, cookies, and similar technologies
We use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics on our website, and platform or in-app analytics where enabled) to understand aggregate usage, diagnose crashes, and improve the Service. These tools may set cookies or use SDKs that collect identifiers and usage events in line with their own policies and your device or browser controls.
On the web, you may be able to block or delete cookies through your browser. On mobile, platform settings may limit ad tracking or analytics where applicable.
If we show third-party ads in the future, we will update this Policy and our store disclosures to identify ad partners, data used for personalisation, and opt-out mechanisms where required.
8. How and why we use information (purposes)
We use personal information for purposes including:
- Providing the Service: creating accounts, profiles, matching or introductions, events, waitlists, and in-app or email communications you request.
- Safety and integrity: age and identity checks, moderation, detecting fraud, enforcing terms, investigating reports (including child-safety and harassment), and protecting users and the public.
- Legal and compliance: responding to lawful requests, tax or accounting obligations, and demonstrating compliance.
- Improvement and research: analytics, surveys, and product development using aggregated or de-identified data where possible.
- Marketing our own Service: for example announcements or campaigns related to Lubdub, where permitted. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their independent marketing.
Depending on where you live, we rely on one or more legal bases such as: performance of a contract with you; legitimate interests (for example security and improvement), balanced against your rights; consent where we ask for it; or legal obligation.
9. How we share information
We may disclose information in these situations:
- Other users: profile elements you choose to display may be visible according to product rules (for example discovery, matches, or event attendee lists where applicable).
- Service providers and processors: hosting, database, email delivery, customer support tooling, analytics, payment processing, identity or document verification partners, and security vendors, under contracts that require appropriate confidentiality and security.
- Corporate transactions: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to confidentiality and this Policy or a successor policy you are notified of.
- Legal, safety, and rights: when we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our terms or policies; to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Lubdub, our users, or others (including child safety). See also our Child safety & CSAE standards.
- With your direction or consent: for example if you ask us to share information with a partner or integrate a third-party feature you explicitly choose.
We do not sell your personal information to data brokers for money, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising except as described in this Policy and our store listings.
10. Automated processing and matching
Parts of the Service may use automated systems (for example rules or algorithms) to suggest matches, rank profiles, detect spam, or prioritise safety reviews. These systems are not used in ways that produce legal or similarly significant effects solely by automated means without human oversight where such oversight is required by law. If you have questions about how matching works, contact us.
11. Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to fulfil the purposes in this Policy, including providing the Service, resolving disputes, establishing legal defences, conducting audits, enforcing our agreements, and complying with applicable law.
- Account and profile data: kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period after closure to recover from accidental deletion, unless you ask for earlier erasure and we are not legally required to retain data longer.
- Verification documents: may be retained for a limited period for fraud prevention and dispute handling, then deleted or minimised where policy and law allow.
- Logs and analytics: typically retained in shortened or aggregated form for a defined period (for example months to a few years depending on system design and legal needs).
- Legal holds: some data may be preserved longer when required for investigations, litigation, or regulatory obligations.
When retention ends, we delete or anonymise information so it can no longer identify you, except where archival copies are required by law.
12. Security
We implement technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, such as access controls for staff and vendors, encryption in transit where supported for our systems, monitoring, and procedures for incident response. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security. You help protect your account by using a strong password (if applicable), not sharing OTPs or login codes, and keeping your device software updated.
13. Your rights and choices
Depending on your country or state of residence, you may have rights such as:
- Access to the personal information we hold about you;
- Correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- Deletion or erasure, subject to legal exceptions;
- Restriction or objection to certain processing;
- Data portability in a structured, machine-readable format where feasible;
- Withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent;
- Opt-out of certain marketing communications (use unsubscribe links or contact us);
- Lodging a complaint with a data protection or consumer regulator in your jurisdiction.
India: If the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 or related rules apply to our processing, you may have rights including access, correction, erasure, grievance redressal, and nomination, as provided by law. We will honour applicable requirements once they fully apply to our operations.
European Economic Area, UK, or similar regions: you may have GDPR-style rights and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
California, USA: California residents may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including to know categories of personal information collected, to delete personal information subject to exceptions, to correct inaccuracies, to opt out of certain sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising (if we engage in that processing), and not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising privacy rights. We do not "sell" personal information as traditionally defined; we disclose categories of sharing in this Policy and in our Data safety information.
To submit a request, email lubdubdating@gmail.com with "Privacy rights request" in the subject line and enough detail for us to verify your identity (for example the phone number or email associated with your account). We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
14. Account and data deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data. We provide a dedicated web form and instructions here: Account and data deletion. After verification, we will delete or anonymise personal data except where retention is necessary for legal, security, or legitimate business purposes as described in Section 11.
15. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has given us personal data, contact lubdubdating@gmail.com immediately so we can investigate and delete information as appropriate. For child safety and CSAE standards, see Child safety & CSAE standards.
16. International transfers
We may process and store information in India and in other countries where we or our service providers operate. If we transfer personal data across borders, we use appropriate safeguards where required (such as contractual clauses or adequacy decisions). By using the Service, you understand your information may be processed outside your country of residence.
Unless mandatory local law says otherwise, this Policy is governed by the laws of India, and courts in India may have jurisdiction, without prejudice to rights you cannot waive under your own country's consumer or privacy laws.
17. Third-party links and services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, payment pages, or social networks. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one. We encourage you to read those policies before you submit information.
18. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect legal, technical, or business changes. We will post the revised Policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice where appropriate (for example a prominent in-app message or email). Continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated Policy, except where your explicit consent is required by law.
